The name of the orator in the Fourteenth Degree of the Rite of Perfection, or the Sacred Vault of James VI. It means a servant, from abad, “to serve,” although somewhat corrupted in its transmission into the rituals. Lenning says it is the Hebrew Habdamon, “a servant”; but there is no such word in Hebrew.
